Meet the Author, K.J. Calloway
K.J. Calloway, a proud native of Atlanta, has always been passionate about learning, teaching, and storytelling. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a teacher — a dream she fulfilled after earning her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Albany State University, along with an Educational Specialist degree that further strengthened her commitment to academic excellence and student development.
As a retired educator with more than 30 years in education, K.J. devoted her career to educating and inspiring young minds in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Known for her warmth, creativity, and dedication, she made a lasting impact on generations of students and families. Her passion for education was recognized through Teacher of the Year honors, as well as her strong focus on social-emotional learning (SEL) and literacy development, helping students grow both academically and personally.
Upon retirement, K.J. turned her attention to another lifelong passion — writing. Inspired by cherished family memories and her personal journey to motherhood, she created Adventures of Allison & Brooke, a heartfelt and inclusive children’s book series that celebrates love, resilience, family, and belonging.
Through her stories, K.J. continues to educate, uplift, and connect with children and families everywhere by sharing the adventures of two special girls who found their forever home.
